Charagh Talay (چراغ تلے) is a classic collection of humorous essays written by Mushtaq Ahmed Yousufi. The book is amongst the most significant assets of Urdu Humor literature. First published in 1961, this book cemented Yousufi’s status as an elite humorist of Pakistan.
Yousufi’s humor is one of a kind. Sometimes it is hard to distinguish if you are reading humor or philosophy. He hides the jewels of philosophy and wisdom under the layer of satire and sarcasm. While his published books are fewer than most, the quality is exceptionally brilliant.
Charagh Talay Book comprises thirteen witty and comical essays. Each essay presents a distant set of characters and draws attention to a different topic. Abdul Wadood Baig (The author’s friend) reappears in multiple stories, and his dialogues are witty and hilarious.
