Shagoofay (شگوفے) is a collection of short Urdu stories (افسانے) written by famous Urdu humor writer Col. Shafiq-ur-Rehman. First published in 1943, It is amongst his most famous works of literature.
There are eleven short stories in this collection. Each follows a different storyline, but the central theme is about love, nature, and society. Every tale has a distant set of characters, but some characters reappear in multiple stories.
Shafiq-ur-Rehman’s short stories are always a treat to read. Along with satire and humor, we also see a touch of romance and social issues of upper and middle-class people in his writings. He has a way of vividly capturing social and cultural issues through his characters.
