Mere Humdum Mere Dost (میرے ہمدم میرے دوست) is a famous Urdu novel written by renowned female Urdu novelist Farhat Ishtiaq. It features a socio-romantic family drama which is quite interesting to read. Urdu1 Network adapted this story into a TV-Serial of the same name, and it was a massive hit. 

The story revolves around a middle-class girl, Aiman, who lives with her mother. When Aiman was little, her father left her mother and married another woman. Aiman has always hated her father for leaving them. The days pass, and her mother falls ill and becomes worried about Aiman’s future. In her last letter to her father, she asked him to look after Aiman.

Her father, now a business tycoon, takes Aiman under his wings, and she goes to live with her stepmother and step-brother. She has a hard time adjusting to new lifestyles and people. Then comes Haider, A business associate of her father, who helps her get used to her new life. He assists Aiman in getting a higher education and adjusting to modern society.

As the story progresses, Haider and Aiman develop feelings for each other and want to marry. But, it does not seem as easy as it sounds. They have to overcome various obstacles to remain together forever.
